Last week I wrote about an industry colleague who has learned to lead in the context of her strengths utilizing collaboration through teamwork as an effective means of goal achievement (read prior week here). As a result of relaying that story, I received some great feedback which further cements the point that we are all leadership in the context of using the unique talents we have been given. Here is the reader feedback for your reflection:
I can’t remember, I think it was in your newsletters but it might have been somewhere else where I read about the concept of servant-leaders. That idea really resonated with me and at the end of the day, I think that’s what I most identify with.
I enjoy being part of a team and leading by example much more than being the person standing out front telling everyone what to do. I’m really happiest ‘leading’ when everyone is willing to collaborate and work together. I don’t always get that lucky which is where the conflict I dislike so much comes in; but when it works, I really love it.
I read your articles each week, and the discussions about various qualities leaders possess. Sometimes I identify with them, other times I think, “That won’t be me in a million years.” I do try to do my best to work with the talents I’ve been given… I don’t do what I do for the recognition, I do it because it’s important and I enjoy it.
My response? Awesome!
