This last week we shared the story from Vickie, a company owner and CEO, who spoke about her husband Tim and his characteristic as a leader who was willing to face reality and formulate a strategy to deal with the life-circumstances that came his way.  We summarized in this column (click here to read) how he often simply stated, "It is what it is," and then began to sort through options to find a win-win solution whenever possible.

This week we provide a number of responses from readers who connected with Tim and Vickie's story:

Hey Tom, I really enjoyed the piece this morning. I think [it] capture[s] something that was already a part of my own perspective, in words I hadn't used.  I can totally imagine myself picking up that phrase and wearing it comfortably, like an old hat I had forgotten and just joyfully rediscovered. - Kris

What we resist persists...might as well embrace it and take positive action.  This was exactly what I needed this morning. Thank you - Stephanie

[Tim and Vickie's story r]eminds me a little of my success pointer: “Control what you can, but accept what you can’tclick to read. - Cheers, Dennis

Merci Tom!  Bill and I find ourselves saying that a lot lately..."it is what it is!" In terms of the state of affairs here in France....and the culture that we are still getting used to!! While I agree it is not fatalistic, it is accepting where things are at, then with God-given courage, we can go forth and make changes as He leads!! Blessings, Jody

It is clear that "facing issues with resolve and joy" is a leadership lesson held in common by many who move in leadership circles.  Thanks again Vickie for allowing us to share your story with our readers last week!
